Advanced Passive Hydraulic Mixing to Minimize Maintenance

Designed and Innovated Over Decades

BioTech’s RNG facilities use an advanced German designed biomethane platform that features a multi-stage process combining anaerobic and aerobic digestion with mesophilic fermentation, maximizing gas production while reducing both OPEX and CAPEX. Plants of this design have been in commercial operation for more than 30 years across Europe and Asia. The design differs from conventional anaerobic digesters in several key ways.

Fundamentally Different Than any Technology on the Market

Operates at twice the dry matter content as Anaerobic Digestor systems.

  • Uses hydraulic pumping motion to mix tank contents.

  • Does not use paddle stirrers more commonly known as CSTR designs.

  • Resulting design is much more passive with tanks in operation since 1997 without having to be opened and cleaned.

  • Allows for larger tanks with significantly better mixing and lower maintenance.

  • Can utilize heat load from data centers to support closed loop cooling.

Higher Output:

1.5–2x higher efficiency than standard anaerobic digesters.

Advance Feedstock Capability:

Capable of fully digesting feedlot manure, poultry litter, and lignocellulosic residues like corn stover and wheat straw; a key differentiator in the industry.

Minimal Land Use:

Footprint is 20% of standard digester systems for the equivalent output (nameplate capacity).

Impurities… No Problem:

Feedstock impurities such as dirt and small debris pass through the system in the thicker slurry mix, exiting with the fertilizer, eliminating the need for manual cleanouts.

Passive Design:

Uses hydraulic mixing instead of paddle stirrers, resulting in tanks that have operated since 1997 without ever needing to be opened and cleaned.

Zero Waste:

No water discharge or any waste streams that have to be disposed of; all process fluids are used as part of the plant process.
